The True Poet

"...is like a man who is happy anywhere, in endless measure, if he is allowed to look at leaves and grass, to see the sun rise and set. The false poet travels abroad in strange countries and hopes to be uplifted by the mountains of Switzerland, the sky and sea of Italy. He comes to them and is dis-satisfied. He is not as happy as the man who stays at home and sees the apple trees flower in spring, and hears the small birds singing among the branches." - Jacob Grimm

Leaky's.

Went into Inverness yesterday, and I was inspired by an amazing second-hand bookshop called Leaky's, where I rediscovered my love for A.A.Milne. So when I couldn't sleep last night, I tried my hand at a little poem.

Alastair,
age ten,
wins prize
for poem,
of tshirt
and sweets.
But never again,
did he think
to put rhyme
down on paper,
with pen.
Until age twenty three,
he succumbs
to boredom.

Scotland and that.

So I'm up near Inverness right now, visiting my aunt and uncle who've been living up here for the past few years. Finally got round to visiting, and I wish I had done sooner.

It is absolutely stunning up here, as soon as the train came through Edinburgh, I simply couldn't read my book and just stared out the window for the next 4 hours up to Inverness. I'll put some photos up when I get back.
